The paused trap bar deadlift is a variation of the trap bar deadlift and an exercise used to build and strengthen the muscles of the legs and posterior chain.

Adding pauses, as seen in the paused trap bar deadlift, is an effective intensity technique used to strengthen the target muscle groups. The pause increases the time under tension of the targeted muscle groups and forces the lifter to really be able to control the weight they are using.
