The band resisted chin up is a variation of the chin up and an exercise used to target the muscles of the back. In particular, the band resisted chin up works the lats, but also indirectly hits the muscles of the upper back, biceps, and core.

One would use the band resisted chin up as a progression from the traditional chin up. The band used in the band resisted chin up provides accommodating resistance, meaning more tension is placed on the target muscle groups the closer you get to a full contraction.
