Muscle & Strength Talks To Super Fitness Model Lindsay Kaye

Lindsay KayeWhat do you love most about fitness?

What I love most about fitness is that anyone can do it, but there is a select few that have the will! There was a time where I thought I could never eat super healthy foods consistently and quit having fast food. After learning what those meals were doing to my body it made it pretty easy! Haha.

Not only is it keeping you healthy and strong, but you have unlimited capabilities to improve your body. It’s great knowing the longer you stick with it, the better you will look and feel. Also I love being able to aid people along with their goals the more I learn and experience.

What keeps you motivated?

I stay motivated by giving myself short term and long term goals. Short term may be getting lean enough for a shoot or competition coming up, long term may be to get a cover of a magazine or becoming sponsored by a supplement company.

The short term keeps me motivated day by day, the long term keeps me in line for months. Also I think about how there is always someone that’s training harder and for longer than I have, so I am able to push through whatever I have going on!

What are your thoughts on fasted cardio?

I used to perform fasted cardio all the time when I was leaning out for shoots, but I learned more about it and quickly stopped. It hasn't been shown to be beneficial in fat loss and if anything it can be detrimental to lean muscle mass.

Which do you prefer, and why...steady state cardio or HIIT?

I am a strong believer in HIIT, it significantly improves your endurance and stamina and the fat and carbohydrate burning process within the body. When you perform steady state cardio often, it puts you in a catabolic state where you actually start losing muscle mass.

Lindsay KayeWhat are some of your best training tips for someone who wants to get ripped?

Consistency is key, keeping your diet and training consistent is sure to get you to your goals. Give yourself enough time to get results, keep at it for six months to see a significant change. Also, set goals for yourself to stay motivated, both short and long term.

Do you have any gym, muscle building or fitness pet peeves?

When I am in the gym I’m there to train, not socialize. I can’t stand when people chit chat while taking up machines, or even worse numerous machines!

What are your best tips for getting ripped and shredded abs?

I have so many people asking me why they can’t get abs or see their abs. They need to understand that you have to be at a low enough body fat percentage to be able to see them. Proper diet is the best way to get there, I have always believed it’s around 80% of your results.

What are your favorite cheat meals and foods?

My cheat meals are still pretty healthy and not too outside my normal meals. For example, I will have a higher fat burger and sweet potato fries, make my own meatball subs on Naan bread, 4% fat ground beef, and make my own marinara sauce, or I’ll make a healthy cheesecake with nonfat cream cheese as a dessert.

Workout music – Don’t care, or MP3 player?

The types of music that get me motivated the most is rock and metal! So I fill my iPod with lots of bands like 30 Seconds to Mars, Coheed and Cambria, Static X, Red, and System of a Down.
